There is such beauty to be found in the complex world of modern urban life. Highways, artificial lighting, gaudy signage and the added element of shooting at night all contribute to the unearthly finished product. Finding and then recording these scenes is the polar opposite of natural landscape photography.

What might be driven by during the day without a second glance becomes a fantastic opportunity once the sun goes down and artificial lighting enters the picture.

Almost all of the images in this portfolio are the result of observing the same locations over and over, month after month, waiting for all of the elements to come together correctly.

Keeping mental as well as written notes is a big part of remembering what’s going to look interesting at a particular time of year.
